Farm Study Cruise 2011

Our littlest farmer always in good spirits and enjoying the beautiful weather we had.

Greeted at the farm with a few Jamaican rockers...Jamming Bob Marley Hits!

Around eighty of Americas interested Gardeners/Farmers, educators and Small business owners participated in the Farm Study Tour 2011!

Fresh Grapefruit, Breadfruit, Bannanas, Oranges were all served as we arrived then a splash of Jamaican Rum was offered to wash it down.

Including how strong it can be

Getting a new lesson about the banana tree.

You can see the stream of fresh water that ran all the way down from the Mountains running throughout the farm.

Later, we had to step across it!

Dr. Scott was a great Scout for many different edibles we were not all familiar with!
Great Job!

Our friend here didn't waste no time getting us all a fresh drink of coconut milk!

Fresh Coconut Milk...just add rum!
Everyone taking a minute to enjoy the fresh milk and ask questions about what we heard.

Explaining to us about the Cocoa plant and the many chocolate items derived from it.

This Soursop fruit can weigh up to 6 pounds and takes around 20-25 weeks to reach  maturity.  Makes great Ice Creams and Juices.

Here pictured with a hard spiky outside shell, Jackfruit you would never know of the hundreds of seeds  sweet aroma and sweet taste hidden inside.
The Ackee tree can grow to 30 feet tall. Its covered with leathery  leaves and fragrant White flowers.
Here the guys are squeezing us some fresh sugar cane water. In no time at all these sticks were dried and ready to be composted!
Heading in from the Farm!

Finishing up with our tour we came back to some delicious hot Jamaican Food!
