Weekending 06/04/11 at "Seeds of Hope" Community Garden

Troop    180      seen    a
need they could fill...relocating our pile of mulch closer to where it was needed.

Now we will relocate it from here saving us many steps with pulling and pushing wheelbarrows.

Trey, and a few others involved with the ARC of Palm Beaches, these guys are taking a break after moving compost.

Fresh mulched walkways are our goal with all this mulch we received. Some are using it to keep moisture in the bed by mulching up to the base of the plant.
Using the picnic area for conversations

Great "before the mulch" picture.

ARC members working on finishing up the development of their group plot.

Boy Scouts Troop 180 is coming along nice.

The boys from Troop 180 filling up the watering cans from our water storage tanks.

These Tomato and Eggplants are growing fast, time to add a few more stakes.

After the boys did some morning watering they quickly turned to help out with spreading the moved mulch over our walk ways....Thanks Troop 180, you Rock.

"Ann" taking advantage of our pump hours. Only while the pump is ON and running we have hose use.
Any other time its the ole fashioned watering cans.

Thanks to everyone's help this Saturday was super productive. Getting the first 7,500 sq feet of gardening area mulched in, and these guys didn't even stop after that.

Another pic of happy WEED Free walkways...

From the other side of the garden, looking south.

A place of beauty, come see for yourself.

The Troop continued working until this job was complete. THANK YOU Brad, Dean and the whole crew.

This Saturday, we all could have used one of these face masks.

Cantaloupe and Watermelon plants doing well, looks like the frequent bath time in Neem Oil is paying off.

After the cloud of dust this crew made they had a few minutes to meet and tend their plot. Great Job!

Cheryl took some time to stake up all our Tomato plants in the community area. A big help.

Compost went fast this round, ARC members will have to return later this week to finish up this project.
Break Time
Dean did a great job with moving around 200 yards of mulch from one end of the garden to the other. this will help us out greatly by saving many footsteps while hauling the wheelbarrows.
